Online image metadata viewer

This online tool allows you to view, extract, and examine the hidden metadata (including EXIF data) embedded in your photographs and image files.

This is useful if you're checking when and where a photo was taken, what camera or phone was used, or verifying the authenticity and source of an image.

Simply upload an image file (JPG) and click the Upload button. The metadata will be displayed instantly, including GPS coordinates (if available), date and time the photo was taken, camera make and model, exposure settings, file size, resolution, and more.

This free online tool will show all available metadata. It is worth understanding that some devices or applications may remove or modify metadata, sometimes done for privacy reasons.

Data Privacy

We take your data privacy seriously. This free online metadata viewer tool uses JavaScript to perform a number of operations on your device; however, the majority of the processing takes place on our EU-based web application server. Your file is sent securely over the internet using HTTPS, stored temporarily in memory, and all available metadata is extracted before the image is discarded from memory. None of your data is shared with or stored by any third party.

What is Metadata?

Simply put, metadata is data about data, often providing extra detailed information about other data. It describes, explains, or organises digital content to make it easier to find, manage, and use.

What Is Image Metadata and EXIF Data?

When you take a digital photo, your camera or phone saves more than just the image, it also stores metadata. This includes details like image size, resolution, and the type of file such as JPG or RAW.

EXIF stands for Exchangeable Image File Format. It records technical details about the photo, such as the make and model, shutter speed, ISO, and sometimes the GPS location where the picture was taken. This data is automatically created by devices and can be used to help organise, sort or display your images.

This free online tool allows you to easily view an image's metadata that has been stored either with your images, or those taken by others.
